Elections 2016

Upcoming Elections - Save the Date! Tuesday, November 8

The presidential election is coming up on Tuesday November 8 , but there are also many other federal, state and local elections this year.

But why should I register to vote?
Registering to vote is important for so many reasons, firstly because it is our duty as citizens. Our republic functions best when people make informed choices based on the policy they think is best for our country.
By registering to vote you are saying that you have made the informed decision to choose who will represent your country as President of the United States for the next 4, or even 8 years.

Registering to vote in the presidential election is important, but even more important important are the state and local elections. Many local elections are decided margins of less than a hundred votes. At the state level, Senator Al Franken of Minnesota was elected in 2009 by a margin of 225 votes. Considering how close the race was, there are probably at least 225 people in Minnesota who wish that they had registered to vote for that election.

Your voice DOES count in these elections, as you will be voting on who will represent your state, county or city.

States with early voting
The following 34 states (plus the District of Columbia) permit early voting in some form.
This tally includes states that permit “in-person absentee” voting, which is the process whereby voters are allowed “to apply in person for an absentee ballot (without an excuse) and cast that ballot in one trip to an election official’s office” prior to the date of an election. Colorado, Oregon and Washington offer all mail votingwhat
